The Meaning of the Buffalo – In a remote village of South Africa, the Balete people cannot remember why they are so linked to their ancestral totem animal, the buffalo. This film takes the viewer on a journey into the heart of African folklore and spirituality. This documentary was featured at The Sundance Film Festival, Hot Docs, The Berlin Film Festival, the Museum of Modern Art, the Africano Film Festival and Amsterdam’s Beeld Voor Beeld Festival.

From Nkoko…with Love – ‘If I die with all of this knowledge inside me, how will I rest in my grave’. Grace Masuku, a wise and eloquent Tswana grandmother hates what television has done to her culture. So she decides to leave a message for the women of her tribe using the very same electronic medium. This film was featured on SABC2 during Women’s Month and was showcased at The Encounters Film Festival, the Pan African Film Festival (FESPACO) and at the North West Film Festival.

My Hare Krishna Family – Frank Opperman, a local South African actor, goes on a journey to try to understand his sister’s devotion to Lord Krishna and the Hare Krishna movement. His journey takes him from the urban landscape of Johannesburg to the dusty streets of Ghana. This documentary received three awards at the Vaisnava International Film Festival for Best Script, Best Musical Score and Best Documentary.
